November 2007: Design Symposium
The Click were involved in a design symposium hosted by Norwich School of Art and Design in the newly refurbished Learning Resource Centre on Duke Street. The event, titled ‘The Value of Design in the UK Economy’, was attended by regional and national business leaders, academics and industry leaders.
The Click were honoured to be invited to be a part of the event. Jeremy Clarke (Director of Computer Service Centre Limited) spoke of how the value of design had heavily contributed towards the formidable development and success of his IT company over the last three years. He showcased examples of work and gave specific examples of how The Click had created, developed and managed their brand over a three year period.
Michael Peters gave an inspirational talk on how design should be considered more as a business strategy as opposed to a luxury product or service. He presented dramatic examples and case studies to back-up his argument. Michael Peters was awarded the OBE in 1990 for his contribution to design and marketing. He is Chairman and Executive Creative Director of Identica, an international brand consultancy which he founded in 1992.
Other presenters included Ruth Flood from the Design Council who shared some insightful statistics on design and the economy. The event was chaired by Graham Creelman of the East of England Development Agency’s Creative Industry Sector.
